Weekly Round up – WC 5th October 2020
This Past Week….
Tuesday, we hoped to be offering the handicap. But as things stand and having looked at various options, we decided it’s safest all round to offer it as a virtual option for this month. Tuesday’s training groups involved:-
Group 1 went through a steady 4 road miles led by Jo Ingram. Taking in the sights of Ripley.
Group 2 saw an off road steady hour led by Matt Jones and Alison Mick Wareham which set off from Ashover.
Group 3 saw Lowes hill reps led by Richard ‘Bunda’ Phillis.
The handicap saw a slow start. But over the weekend people started to get their running shoes on and take in the Street Lane loop. Well done to Zoe Naylor, Neil Worthy and Sarah Huskinson who were the first to complete a loop.
Well done to all run leaders and runners for getting out and getting involved. Remember, as we creep into winter, it’s worth remembering your headtorch for future sessions.
Ripley Runners Race Round-up
What a weekend it has been for Ripley Runners….
First mention goes to Kat Fletcher who stuck two fingers up to Covid-19 and decided to run her first ‘proper’ marathon around the roads of home. 26.2 miles in 6 hours 7 minutes. Well done Kat.
Kat and Tanya on their marathon
The biggest mention goes to one of our members this race weekend. This member decided to put themselves out and help a friend complete their difficult challenge. That mention goes to Tanya Heaslip. Tanya, who hadn’t even trained for a marathon, put herself out and volunteered to help Kat Fletcher complete her marathon. Tanya ran the whole 26.2 miles, supporting Kat from start to finish.
Amy Bradley was at it again this weekend. Amy completed the Yorkshire Cakeathon, this time completing the 26.31 miles (making up for the 29.19 last week) in a total time of 4 hours 27 minutes.
Amy also dragged along her good friend Jo Ingram, who also completed the Yorkshire Cakeathon in 5 hours and 12 minutes. Well done to Amy and Jo. And good luck to Jo who has another marathon in a weeks time.

This week the club will be mainly running……..
Tuesday night sessions have been announced by Joanne Howett. Get involved and get in touch with Joanne..
Sad news too I’m afraid. Due to the Welsh Covid-19 restrictions, the Wales weekend has been cancelled. However, being creative and harbouring a can do attitude, Luke Beresford has come up with a solution to our woes. If you want to get involved with the Peak District relay, get in touch with Luke.
Happy running this week…
