Ripley Running Club – Weekly Round up

Weekly Round up – WC 26th October 2020

This Past Week….

Its definitely Autumn! But the clocks going back didn’t stop our members taking to the streets for the usual Tuesday night social. Although we were a little short on leaders with half term and also post marathon(s) resting, this didn’t stop us getting our fix of running. Once again thank you to all the leaders for stepping up and leading our groups.

Group 1 saw a steady off road around Felley Woods with Ian Warton-Woods. Meeting at Dog & Quail, Underwood.

Group 2 saw a Steady off road from Waingroves with Amy Bradley. Meeting at The Honey Pot.

Group 3 tackled a speed session including 3-4 x mile reps from Broadway, Swanwick with Joanne Howett.

Group 4 saw a very steady road run from RLC with Tanya Heaslip.

Ripley Runners Race Round-up

Remember all race details are taken from Strava:

Martin Picker (just) in the Spire Ultra 2020

Big shout out goes to Martin Picker who completed the Spire Ultra. This 32 mile route circumnavigates around Chesterfield and includes 3,660 ft. of climbing, not to mention the dreadful weather throughout the day. Martin completed the route in 5 hours and 54 minutes which is a great time! Well done Martin….

Ian Warton-Woods tackled the Woodhall Spa orienteering course. Ian completed the 6.23 mile course in 58 minutes and came 1st, or 7th, only Ian knows..

Danny Elliott step into the field of Marathons by shoving two fingers up to Covid-19 and tackling his own 26.2 mile course. Danny finished the route in 3 hours and 43 minutes. Well done Danny and a great effort for his first ever marathon.

This week the club will be mainly running

After Bojo’s devastating news on Saturday, after he had finished watching the Rugby, has dealt us all a blow once again. That’s why it is your chance to make this Tuesday a great one. See below the details for this Tuesday’s social runs:

Get in touch with Joanne Howett if you’re interested

Matt Jones and Joanne Howett are looking for team members for a relay event called Mob match. If you’re interested, please get in touch with them ASAP. Also, the club will pay the entry fees so it’s FREE to anyone who signs up for the event.

Mob Match

As previously mentioned Boris has announced another National lockdown for a month starting from Thursday. This will, most likely, put a stop to club runs during this period. We will continue to keep you posted throughout and as soon as club runs can start again, we will definitely shout up.
