Weekly Round up – WC 19th October 2020

This Past Week….

Things shaped up nicely for Tuesday social training groups, 5 groups planned with 2 of these able to split should group numbers exceed 6. Which highlights how well attended the Tuesday night sessions currently are. Because of this, a massive thank you must go to organisers and run leaders alike making sure we have these great options available.

Group 1 – Met at RLC for a steady 4 miles with Jo Ingram and Tanya Heaslip taking in the seven wonders of Ripley.

Group 2 – Met at RLC, they jogged down to Codnor Ind est for a pyramid session with Richard ‘Bunda’ Phillis.

Group 3 – Met at Rutland Sports Park, Ilkeston for intervals session with Joanne Howett.

Group 4 – Met at Red Lion, Shirland for 7 miles off road with Tim Jaques and a pint after.

Group 5 – Met at St Andrews Church, Swanwick. Taking in 5 miles at 8-8.30 pace with Neil Worthy

Saturday 24th October saw two groups attack the Peak District. A social away run, organised by our runner of the week Luke Beresford, started from Hartington and took in a very scenic, yet hilly, 11 mile route.

Ripley Runners Race Round-up

All routes/times taken from Strava..

Jo Ingram took on the virtual Welsh Marathon (not in Wales obviously) completing the 26.2 mile route that she designed in 5 hours and 3 minutes. Jo is also raising money for charity and the link can be found below:

Various Ripley runners joined Jo on her 2nd Marathon quest in two weeks. Well done Jo.

Matt baker also completed the Clumber Park Duathlon. As I have taken the details from Strava I am a little confused as to what the route was but well done Matt all the same.

This week the club will be mainly running……..

Tuesday sessions have been announced, see below for details.

The clocks have gone back, no more chasing the last of the daylight for Tuesday training runs. But does that stop us exploring the local countryside? Of course not, as you’ll see from this week’s offerings!
